The Rainbow Fish (book 6)

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfisher is a tale about a fish with beautiful shining and shimmering scales. On the outside he was so stunning that everyone wanted to look like him, but on the inside he was so lonely and did not understand why he had no friends. One day a little plain blue fish swam up to rainbow fish and asked for one of his shiny beautiful scales. Rainbow fish replied “you want me to give you one of my special scales?” “What do you think you are?” “Get away from me!” After such a harsh interaction, that little blue fish swam to all of his friends and explained what had happened. After that incident nobody wanted to be the rainbow fish’s friend. It was not until he went and saw the octopus and was told in order to have friends he would have to give up his beautiful shiny scales. Eventually, the rainbow fish meets back up with that little blue fish and gives him one of his scales. It was not until he saw how happy that little fish was with only a small shiny scale that he learned that value of sharing. This is a great book for kids because it teaches the value of sharing and how one small act could have a positive impact in another person’s life. It also teaches them that how they treat others is an important lesson.
