The story of Ferdinand the bull depicts a little bull who only wanted to sit under a tree and smell the flowers. He never wanted to kick, butt, or snort like all of the other bulls. One day his mother wondered why he did not want to play with the other bulls, but being his mother she accepted his choice to sit under the tree and smell the flowers. It was time for the bull fight in Madrid, so the matadors set out to find the fiercest and strongest bull around, they stumbled upon Ferdinand who was bucking, stomping
and snorting ferociously. They all began to cheer, what they did not realize was that Ferdinand had just gotten stung by a bee. They brought Ferdinand back and pushed him into the stadium hoping for a brilliant fight. What they got was a bull who sat in the center of the stadium smelling the flowers from the women’s hair. He was eventually brought but to his home where he would continue to do what he loved; sits under his tree and smells the flowers! This story shows that it is important to be yourself no
matter what anyone says. There is nothing wrong with being different, no two people in the world are exactly the same, and our differences are what make all of us unique! Children face a lot of pressure today, to act and look a certain way and when that does not match up to what is deemed normal incidents like bulling can happen. If kids are taught from an early age that difference are good and to be themselves rather than what others say they should be then we may see many things like higher self- esteem and less bullying amongst children.
